The Artistry of Dino and David

Dino and David

Dino and David was the sizzling duo of David Kempton on keyboards and Dino Vera on drums and vocals. This pair of performers could sound like a trio, quartet or even full orchestra, thanks to the thoughtful application of modern technology. (They could also bring in more musicians, to become a trio, quartet – even a 14-piece big band!) The skill and quality of these musicians is apparent from the first note of the evening (typically their theme song, Make Me A Memory) to the final lingering chord.

California’s most versatile duo

Both musicians have a long list of credits. Dino Vera has performed with pop icons Jimi Hendrix and James Taylor. He spent years in New Orleans, honing his skills while playing with internationally known recording artist Fats Domino and Bourbon Street greats The Meters, and on the road in exotic locales like St. Martin in the Caribbean and Dallas. His vocal skills are as multi-faceted as his itinerary, enabling him to sing Tony Bennett swingers, Jimmy Reed blues, and rhythm and blues hits in a definitely Ray Charles-tinged soulful groove. These credentials have paved the way for a highly successful series of jazz concerts in France.

David Kempton has performed and/or recorded with jazz, pop and R&B artists as diverse as jazz trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, sax man
Brandon Fields, funkmeisters Paul Jackson and Mike Clark (the rhythm machine driving Herbie Hancock’s famous Headhunters,) ex-Monkee Michael Nesmith and Lou Rawls. He has toured with Sam and Dave and Latin-jazz giant Willie Bobo, and played many of the top jazz venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall, Montreux, the Playboy Jazz Festival, both Newports, the Northsea Festival in Amsterdam and the Monterey Jazz (and Blues) festivals.

These two artists have blended their skills into a seamless tapestry of musical excellence. With an enormous range of genres and styles from which to select, it’s not surprising that Dino and David lit up audiences from all over the world.
