Monterey was a cool concept – take the old standards and apply modern hip-hop and synth horns as well as keys, and see what came out. We didn’t play a lot of gigs, but the ones we did were a lot of fun, and well-received. Check out our live set at the beach in Felton, Ca.
Sets 1 and 2
Some of the best players on the Monterey Peninsula and Santa Cruz regions came together to make this group happen. We opened the Monterey Jazz Festival on the Garden Stage, played a number of concert gigs and generally had a great time. The two-keyboard back line made for flexible and varied sonic textures, and Anthony King’s soulful hip-hop grooves propelled the rhythm into a foot-tapping extravaganza.
